Publication Fees
The financial structure and operational sustainability model of the journal Causality (caui3) have been designed to ensure scientific excellence, long-term technical viability, and continuous improvement of the publication platform. The journal’s editorial management, technological support, and funding are backed and driven by Editorial Puruhá, a technical unit belonging to Industrias Puruhá, an Ecuadorian company formally established and registered with the Superintendency of Companies, Securities, and Insurance of Ecuador (Supercias) under the Single Taxpayer Registry (RUC) #0691786327001 and Registration File #369731.
Founded in 2024 as a platform for the dissemination of knowledge and technological innovation in engineering and industry, the journal initially operated under a Diamond Open Access policy at no cost to authors for its first two volumes. In order to consolidate its technological infrastructure, maintain free global access, and strengthen international indexing processes, the journal is updating its financial model to stipulate that, starting with the publication of Volume 3, Issue 1, the Article Processing Charge (APC) will be mandatory for all accepted submissions. Manuscripts from previous issues (Volumes 1 and 2) remain exempt from this fee.
In keeping with its academic commitment, the journal adopts the open access model distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this model, authors retain the inalienable ownership of the copyright to their works and authorize the free reading, downloading, distribution, copying, and adaptation of the content by any means, ensuring maximum visibility, citation, and global impact of scientific output.
To cover the direct costs associated with double-blind peer review, copyediting, multi-format typesetting (PDF, HTML, and XML-JATS), the assignment of digital object identifiers (DOIs), plagiarism checks using specialized software, and long-term digital preservation (LOCKSS/CLOCKSS), the journal charges a fixed Article Processing Charge (APC) of 300 U.S. dollars ($300 USD) for each accepted manuscript. This fee will be formally requested following notification of final acceptance and prior to the start of the layout and final production phases. This payment may be covered directly by the researchers, their academic institutions, or the organizations sponsoring their projects.
The single fee structure collected by Editorial Puruhá is reinvested in the maintenance of the OJS technological infrastructure, cybersecurity, strengthening the technical team, and ensuring preservation and open access for the international scientific and industrial community.
